YEZ MUSIC DOGME 2019
- At least 1 track every month all year
- Normally I use DAW software but in 2019 I will do everything without use of computer
- I do all "live*. Only the underlaying drumtrack (mostly for metronome/syncing purposes)will typically be sequenced.
- I will only rarely retake or edit any takes, to keep the feel of improvisation. Therefore it is NOT flawless. If I can accept errors I hope others can :)
- Songs might be re-mastered later on if I'm not happy with the current master
- I consider this as an experimental process and will not be picky on the tracks added to the playlist of 2019
- All new track will also be featured on my Soundcloud
Update December 2019
Now, getting closer to the end of 2019 I like to round up this project.
First of all, it has been very easy for me to do this. In the beginning I had the music coming like crazy. As you can see on the months (below) I made much more than the required one track per month.
In October I had a serious problem because I by mistake deleted a really big part of my work in process. Lots of tracks was lost and all I previously have done (on Korg Electribe Sampler) was deleted. It kind of broke my creativity. On the other hand, I already knew that I was probably never going back because everything in 2019 was more or less improvised and not supposed to be used for anything else.
I can still go back and try recreate what I've done but I rather do something new.
Overall I'm very satisfied by the 2019 project and I might continue in 2020.
I still feel like doing it without computer, it's much more inspiring and I love the process of not being able to edit anything (only sometimes do a retake of certain tracks on a multitrack level).
Composing on a computer is so different from what I have been doing in 2019 and there are no doubt in my mind that I will prefer to continue without DAW software.
I also made a complete playlist of all music I ever made, 140 tracks. Can be found on Google Music or Soundcloud
